WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
Watermen for Life was born on October 9, 2016. That was the day that we lost our beloved friend, Willie, to a cardiac event while SUP-surfing on the north end of Delray Beach, FL. Shortly thereafter we, the founders of Watermen for Life, began to turn our thoughts to how we could honor Willie’s memory, and his spirit of Aloha, by doing good work in his name.
Because of Willie’s connection to, and respect for the ocean, we knew that our work would need to benefit the ocean and those that work and play on, in, or near it. Accordingly, 100% all proceeds of Watermen for Life’s fundraising efforts are passed along to selected ocean-based non-profit organizations. For 2018 the benefitting organization is:
The Wild Dolphin Project
Our fundraising efforts are centered around fellowship events. Willie loved nothing more than getting a group of people together to enjoy each other’s company, to have some fun in the sun, and preferably to play in the water. Watermen for Life both hosts and participates in fellowship events as a means of fundraising, but just as importantly, to spread the Aloha.
Finally, Watermen for Life, seeks to build a community centered around our love of Willie and of the ocean. We enjoy making connections with like-minded people and organizations. In short, we want to share the love! We hope you’ll reach out to us if you feel the same.
Watermen for Life is 100% volunteer effort. The joy of doing good work in Willie’s name is all the compensation we need. For the time being, we’re “keeping it simple” by not creating a separate legal entity for Watermen for Life. We’d like to avoid the compliance overhead and expense for as long as is practical. In the interim, we certify that all proceeds of our fundraising efforts go 100% to our current benefitting organization. We will provide their 501 (C) (3) certification and EIN upon request.
